The Alpine Zoo

What could be nicer than going to the zoo on a quiet, sunny afternoon with your family, partner or even on your own? At the foot of the Nordkette mountain range, above the rooftops of Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol, lies the Alpine Zoo at an altitude of 750 meters. Around 2000 Alpine animals of around 150 species are kept in natural enclosures, terrariums and aquariums on just over 5 hectares. No other zoo in the world has such a complete collection of wild animals from the Alpine region. This is just one reason why a number of world-first breeds and remarkable breeding successes have been achieved here.

With the Kombi-Ticket Alpenzoo, the zoo can be easily reached directly from Innsbruck city center in just a few minutes on the modern Hungerburgbahn. A separate stop is located in the immediate vicinity of the zoo entrance and is particularly popular with families. Take advantage of the exit option on the way up to the Hungerburg with the Kombi-Ticket, which includes the ride on the Hungerburgbahn and admission to the zoo. Dogs are not permitted in the zoo.

Lynx, eagles, fish, birds, but also wolves and bears await visitors to the Alpine Zoo. The lovingly designed zoo is home to around 2000 Alpine animals of around 150 species in natural enclosures, terrariums and aquariums. Especially in spring, when the first young animals see the light of day, there is a lot going on at the Alpine Zoo.

Rare native breeds of cattle, pigs, goats and sheep can be viewed and stroked up close in the show barn. However, the brown bears are definitely a special highlight. While these shy animals are - thankfully - rarely seen in the wild, you can visit and admire "Martina" and "Ander" at the Alpine Zoo at any time. Take advantage of the opportunity to get off on the way up to the Hungerburg with the combined ticket, which includes a ride on the Hungerburgbahn and admission to the zoo. Dogs are not permitted in the zoo.
