A Nepalese Sherpa family is approached by a trio of mountaineers for the first ascent of the east face of Kumbhakarna. This presents them with a difficult decision: The mountain is considered sacred in their Kirant religion and should not be climbed, but this expedition would bring in the necessary money for their son's medical studies. When bad weather is added to the mix, the rifts between the two parties deepen. Eliza Kubarska shows this endeavor from the perspective of the Sherpas and shows us aspects of these expeditions that would otherwise remain hidden.
